I'm proud to announce my campaign to continue representing Ward 3 on the Burlington City Council.

Three months ago, Ward 3 neighbors came together to support our vision for a more just and equitable Burlington. We organized around shared priorities of housing affordability, safer, more accessible infrastructure, police accountability, and stronger social services. Since our victory, we have made progress in each of these areas. We have taken action to address the unfair reappraisal and property tax system, which caused hardship for so many families. We have advocated for allocating resources away from the police department toward a mental health care system with rapid response capacity. We have pushed hard to use Burlington’s relief dollars to meet our neighbors' basic needs and to build a more equitable future for us all.

This announcement comes at a more somber time than I had hoped. Recent City actions against our houseless neighbors at Sears Lane have made clear that this administration is dedicated to maintaining a harmful status quo. I’m running for re-election because our organizing and advocacy are so important at this moment.

If re-elected, this time to serve a full term, I will continue this work. I remain committed to strengthening our livable wage ordinance, making our boards and commissions system more equitable, protecting tenants' rights, and confronting the substance use and mental health crises. The question we need to ask when facing our broken systems is not "how do we make this better?" rather "what would this look like if it were built to work for everyone?"

I'm running for re-election because the past three months have shown me what's possible if we center marginalized voices and organize for collective liberation. I know I'm asking a lot – taking on the status quo on every front won't be easy. However, if we all commit to showing up, we will achieve the change we deserve. I remain optimistic about the possibilities ahead and look forward to fighting for a more just future with you all.

With gratitude and in Solidarity,
